Hmm I thought the 4.0 N/A V8 made 420bhp?

You are right, but so am I. BHP the V8 petrol beats it, but the V8 only produces about 400nm of torque, and that's the 'more powerful' I was referring to. šŸ˜‰

Take your point though, would be a lovely motor to put in a D3. Though for the cost of it, I might be more inclined to buy an imported 5.0 V8 D4 and keep it forever and ever Laughing

I have always admired those, but the fuel economy is shocking. The BMW lump would be fun to try merely for the experience of getting it to work, but also because it is more powerful than the LR V8 petrol and considerably newer and more economical.

All I need to do now is smack my 4-series into a wall (lightly) so that I have an excuse to rip the engine out of it Rolling with laughter

Same, but at a family friendly price, not Ā£70k+

I think the list price of the end of production D4 Landmark was well over Ā£50k back in 2016.

If it was Ā£50k for reference.
Thatā€™s Ā£65,000 today according to the BOE inflation calculator.

A new defender D300 HSE or X will be my next car in several years time.
But my D3 is staying, once itā€™s rebuilt.

Ā£72,826.33 is the BOE inflation price for it in todays money.

Which isnā€™t a million miles from where the equivalent D5 is price wise.

Shame wages havenā€™t went up as much.

I wouldn't rule out the new Land Cruiser as well. The Defender is nice but its compromised by the rear door and boot space.

I have to say....... I dont mind the D5. Parked next to one last night when I took the dogs out to "Meatball Field" and it would be a natural progression. If they did a V8 then Whistle

For me the Defender and Discovery 5 are compromised by the rear door, and the Defender's boot space is inadequate.

I'm coming round to keeping my D4 for many more years.

I'm with NJSS here... looking to keep mine for a long time. Nothing quite beats the D3 for me in what I need and want from it, I have no desire to get a new car every few years, and am happy enough to try and keep this going for as long as it's permitted on the roads. If I had to move on I would look at a D4 because I like the shape and configuration so much.

I disliked the D5 look originally but having seen a few close up and driven one I think it just needed to grow on me. Iā€™d be completely ok with a D5 HSE Metropolitan P360 Whistle Whistle

Itā€™s unfortunately priced slightly above my toy budgetā€¦ at around 175k eur or so Laughing Laughing

Only if they could improve the reliability of the cars not being bottom year in year out on what car so embarrassing, then you get them top of league of being stolen.
Wondered why my insurance rocketed all the above was what they told me even not being quoted even.
Perhaps LR sort that out and perhaps take its customers more seriously and listen then they might just but with all the greens /government and other dipsticks in this country that hate what a SUV represents probably not.

Itā€™s a defender we want. Test drive one and it was a big want from both of us.

Tbh, the rear door doesnā€™t bother me.
Had a freeby 1 for a few years and got used to it pretty quickly.

Plus, if I need extra boot space then thatā€™s what the disco 3 is for.
As itā€™s going to be a family heirloom like my 80ā€ for my kids to suffer. Laughing
