Gearbox failure?

As I was leaving a car park this evening I got a clanging noise from the front end when on full lock, and shortly after I lost drive and a grinding noise started coming from the transmission. Limited traction remained and I was able to limp out of the way of the exit with the car acting like the clutch was slipping massively. When I put the auto box in park there was a crunching noise.

No warning lights on dashboard, and nanocom plugged in faults were showing as a speed sensor on gearbox and speed sensor on engine ECUs. Now nanocom is showing nothing and giving me a blank screen when I connect it so even that seems to have died on me.

Car is a MY07 HSE Auto. Currently waiting for recovery. Whats the bet on what has gone wrong?!

Had a similar experience earlier this year, turned out to be the passenger side front driveshaft,

Ok that doesn’t sound quite as expensive as the replacement auto box I’m currently fearing!!

How far are you from crawley Geoff?! Is this something you could do and combine an auto flush at the same time?!

Not a sight you ever want to see!!

Damage has been confirmed as the nearside driveshaft CV joint eating itself. Could have been worse, and local garage has managed to replace same day!
