Has any solution been found to get the D4 using the horns or is it a purely a coding item ?

Locking with tailgate open?
Hoping I'm not too far "off topic" but I'd like to disable the horn 'toot' when locking my D3 (MY2007) with the tailgate open. Occasionally I'd like to lock and immobilise the vehicle with the tailgate open to provide ventilation for my dogs in their locked Trans K9 dog box. Can anyone advise if this is possible? and........ is the vehicle immobilised if I do this? I've searched everywhere and can't find any reference to this anywhere.D3 XS 2007

Not sure D3 is same as D4, but usually when then the horn toots when locking, indicates something is left open, door, bonnet, tailgate and will not lock anything until offending item is shut.
You can lock everything and then just open tailgate, which leaves other doors locked and secured, no tooting.
I think difference between D3 and D4 is that you have to press lock twice on D3 to disable interior alarms, whilst on D4 you only press it once.D4 HSE MY12 Marmais Teal: Gone. Missed a lot!

D4 2011MY Alarm
ffs ! wishing I'd read to end of thread. Just spent nearly 2 hours freezing to death to get the sounder disconnected and found ( as have others before me ) that it's then silenced the alarm.
However, I tried setting it off with bonnet open and top off the box it sits in and ... very, very loud.
top back on box ... loud, but not hurting my ears.
close bonnet ... is that an alarm going off somewhere ?
so ... conclusion is the sounder is ok but it's in wrong place.
I'm going to see if I can find either a louder one to overcome the soundproofing or (more likely), move it. That said, it doesn't look particularly waterproof so adding an additional one might be a better bet.
Anyone tried this approach ?

looking at wiring diagrams, it refers to "passive sounder if fitted".
does anyone know where the connector for this would be ? my thinking is this would be simpler than cobbling together something to add a second sounder connected to the main one.

When I triggered the alarm on my MY11 D4 last week it used the puny sounder and the horn.

thks
well i've found if i wave my arm around for around 30 x seconds it then finally goes off,
so by that time the window could be smashed and most contents removed before the alarm decides to wake up ,
