getting more MPG (allegedly)...

Has anyone heard of (or, better still, actually used) a fuel additive called "MPG-caps"? Let me be absolutely clear: I am neither a rep trying to flog this stuff, or have any other commercial interest in it... I am just one very happy month into D3 auto TDV6 HSE ownership and, like everybody else on this site, I would just like to get a few more mpg out of it. The issue came up when a US-based friend sent me some of these things (in tablet form) last week, following my e-mail to him telling him all about my new D3. He drives around Florida in a ridiculously big Ford SUV ("Excursion", I think it's called; it's the biggest one available over there, this side of needing an HGV licence). You're supposed to simply stick one tablet in the tank (whether petrol or diesel) at each fill-up, & achieve at least another 10% more mpg. Or so he claims. It's worth pointing out that he also has no commercial interest in this either. Anyway, before putting them anywhere near my pride 'n' joy, I would really like some 2nd opinions from anyone who's tried them... or for those of you that haven't, I'd still welcome input even from just taking a look at the manufacturers' website. It's full of all manner of techno-babble, but anyway, see what you think: http://www.forwardcommerce.myffi.biz

Hi dgrr,
Frankly, I would personally be rather sceptical...
Have a look at http://www.fuelsaving.info/ffi.htm

Thanks, fredblondieau.
I might give them a go - as they cost me nothing, I suppose all i'm really worried about is them doing any internal damage.

fuel additive?

Hi dgrr,

I only ask this question.....

Why haven't Shell, BP or the other fuel producing companies, (with their millions in R&D budget), already dentified this miracle additive and simply add it to their fuel?

Imagine the potential for each of them to gain a significant market share if they can prove that their fuel will return 10% better fuel economy and be better for your engine. Rolling Eyes

My guess is because that NO such additive exists that is also cost effective, I mean ther is no point spending $10 bucks in fuel additives to increase mileage by $10.. Laughing
What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!
