You say that but ive just part ex my D4 to a dealer for 9.5k for no other reason than mileage anxiety and tax costs. All the standard maintenance work was more than up to scratch. I would guess the new owner wont have any big bills for a good while, unless manifolds or crank or props bearings or suspension failures occur Whistle

2014 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 XXV LE Auto Causeway GreyDiscovery 4

having had D3 manual D4 6speed and D4 8 speed id say D4 all the way but i loved my D3 as well ..depends on if you want utility more than luxury . the D4 is a lot more refined and the engine noticibly more powerful personally im not that thrilled with the 8 speed and prefered my 6 speed D4 tbh ..

but if i wanted a capable and ready utilitarian biased vehicle i wouldnt hesitate buying another good service record D3.

as has been said many times before its the Discovery is the swiss army knife of vehicles but do remember its a light commercial vehicle really so has those type bills consumate to age and maintenance by previous owners. just have a couple of ££ in reserve Thumbs Up

There’s only one thing worse than making the wrong decision- not being able to make a decision! Laughing
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I like the refinement of the D4, but my gut has been telling me get a good D3.

Full service, change all fluids, egr delete, remap, wax oil. Will try and get one with belts n oil pump done already. Fingers crossed.

Then start the inevitable farkling, I still have a rake of D2 stuff stored away - just in case. And mebe even some defender bits.

I’ll keep an eye on sales here. But if anyone is thinking of selling in Oct Nov this year, feel free to PM.

I always tell people who ask, to keep any old land rover as your main car you need to spend 20 quid per week/1000 per annum on parts alone.
