The handle on the lower glover box of my Disco 3 has broken on the R/H side, it still works but is hanging loose. Anyone know if this is repairable or do I need to replace the whole thing?

Hi Comanche, I have the same on my D3, I suspect one of the kids is responsible! I enquired of the local dealer if the locking mechanism could be replaced but was told it would be the whole glove box at a cost of approx £100. The quality is pretty shoddy in the first place don't you agree?

Looks like the beginnings of a new club.
Mine has also broken, so I tried to get it apart to investigate and discovered the inner and outer panels are glued together.
I gave up and put it on the 'To Do' list.
Whilst I figure out how to get it apart without breaking something I have found that a short length of 'invisible' tape as used to mend books keeps the handle in place, allows it to move still, and doesn't really show too much.

Cant believe my luck, found a complete glove box, both parts on e-bay for £60... just got to figure out how to fit the damn thing. Can I still be a member of the broken glove box club? I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

This was for a black one, not sure of your interior?

Your welcome mate.
Let me know how you get on, I've not got mine yet so if you decide to do it remember and take some photos.
Cheers

Yes very interested to hear what you decided to do, so I guess if you get your pet mechanic to fit it thats £40 labour plus cost of glove box takes it up to the £100 my dealer quoted. Good luck!

Having looked at mine this evening with a view to changing it myself in the future, the problem appears to be getting the hinge pins out after you've released the top and hinged it right down.
I tried pushing them sideways with a small screwdriver but there isn't really anywhere for one of them to go.
And the one that looks like it has room to move appears to have a spring in there somewhere that keeps it in place, as it only went so far then sprung back into place.
I'm sure it's a very easy job once you know the knack, but I gave up as it got dark and though I'd have another go when I get a new part to fit.

Mine also broke within the first week.
Dealer fixed.
Are later ones better, failures seem to be on earlier builds? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
