United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Metropolis LE Auto Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

Had the new Michelin tyres fitted today. No problems to report, the drive is fine, no more or less noise and handles OK. Smile Costco had to order the tyres up a few days before and said that I needed to pay the full amount up front. I thought this was a bit odd as it required two trips to Leeds, one to pay and one to have them fitted. Shocked Even so the price was worth the hassle.

I need to see how thay handle off road... We will see.

Do you not use the Oldham store? From where i live on paper it is less to Leeds but the fuk cameras 30/40 zones bloody traffic make it a nigtmare, but its 37 miles to oldham 45 mins Very Happy most of it motorway straight off 21 into carpark, well second carpark first is cop shop Embarassed better than the other going round the m60 etc and half of the trafford centre traffic with you. Good deal on the tyres and great place to shop Razz

Used leeds as I work in the area alot. I was able to leave the car with them for the day while i did some jobs.

I have been to the Oldham store and they all quoted the same deal. I am about half way between the two stores.

My Pirelli Scorpions are ready for changing (26k miles from new) and so I started shopping around. Ended up getting a price from Costco for Michelin Synchrones 255/55 R19 at £152.73 ea inc fitting & vat.

Are the Michelins the same speed rating as the Pirellis - I found Michelins excellent on a TD5 but when I looked at them in Costco last year for the TDV6HSE I recall that they were H speed rated whereas I think the Pirellis are V rated, so I gave them a miss in case there were any handling or indeed insurance issues. Anyone able to confirm?

I've been running the Michelins for nearly 50k miles, same set, and no handling issues. IMO a very good hard wearing, and quiet tyre indeed. Not sure if they are H or V, but I don't think it matters.

Thanks - just checked the handbook & it specifies EITHER H or V rating (must be load index 111 for 19" or 112 for 18" wheels)

My local tyre supplier today quoted Goodyear H rated at £126, Michelins at £155.

My local ATS quoted £573.23 for x4 Michelins = £143.30 each (but based on 'buy 4, save 25%').

All prices fully fitted etc and inc VAT.

All for 255/60/18 H or V 112

That's good. Assume it's the Tour tyre? Kwik Fit just quoted £560 to me - still hunting! Smile

I think the synchrones are now unavailable. They have been replaced by the Tour HP - which I have. I've not been stuck in muddy fields yet - but they don't look very chunky! On the flip side, they are superb on greasy country lanes, quiet on the motor way, and have superb traction.

Michelin Synchrones still exist. Costco Leeds ordered and fitted yesterday 4 255/55/R19s for me.Cost was £554.55 all in. Promo of £80 of 4 x 18in or above for another 2 weeks. Tyres seem quieter on road and I guess will be as good as Scorpions off road. The Scorpions did 16000mls and had 3mm left. I am sure Michelin will double this at least.
