Got Pirelli boots? Drive extra carefully!

Just went to Kwik-Fit to get a slow puncture looked at. It was outside the repairable area so new tyre time. Only problem: I've got Pirelli Scorpion Zeros but Kwik-Fit haven't and neither have Pirelli - they are on a four-week lead time! Local LR dealer doesn't have stock either. The big problem is that the lease company won't mix and match tyre types and, of course, the spare is a 'temporary use only' steel wheel.

So we are at a bit of an impasse. I've left the lease company scratching its head and I am waiting for them to ring me back with an elegant solution...

If you've got Pirelli Scorpions on your D3, try and avoid all debris and potholes until at least January Sad

Thanks VA for the kind offer. I'll PM you if the massed brains of Lex and Kwik-Fit don't come up with anything!

A strong word with your lease company first, their tyre policy must not affect your safety

Oh, I entirely agree. One of the supposed beneifts of a leased vehcle is hassle-free motoring. I'm sure they will sort something out - they are normally pretty good.

I was just shocked about the four-week story and wanted to warn the group!

Thanks all for your help. Kwik-Fit obviously read this forum - they've found one! But it defintely seems that they are in very short supply at the moment.

Ref Mytyres. Friend of mine waited weeks for a delivery from this organisation. I would check carefully that tyres are in stock and available for delivery.

I suspect that stock is held in Germany, they are a German company, and sent from there which is why they quote 3 to 5 days delivery. Not a problem if they have the goods.

If anyone is still having trouble getting hold of Pirelli's you might like to know the following.

My near illegal Embarassed Pirellis required changing earlier this week, Kwik Fit were actually offering a good(ish) price of £168 per corner fitted, but i managed to persuade them into also giving me the 25% discount for buying 4 Very Happy . Having sorted the deal over the telephone Kwik Fit called me back to say the tyre was on back order and there was no date for them coming into stock.

Decided to email Pirelli (throught the link on their web-site) got an email back within the hour confirming that they were on back order, BUT if i told them how many i wanted and which tyre fitter i was going to use, they would see what they could do (no promises though!). Sent reply confirming x4 and local Kwik Fit and got a phone call from Kwik fit an hour later saying that Pirelli were sending 4 directly to them on next day courier, bear in mind this is week 20 of 2007, the DOT mark on the tyres is for week 19/2007. Tyres fitted less than 24 hours after email sent to Pirelli.

Top customer service from Pirelli Thumbs Up
