GPS Speed on Sat Nav (MY2012) is it possible?

Now I've got some new tyres, I'd like to check how inaccurate the speedo is but I can't get a reliable GPS fix inside the car. Is it possible to make the sat nav display the GPS speed on a MY2012 HSE?

I'm sure you used to be able to do it on my MY2011 D4 through the hidden screen but I can't find the option on my MY2012's hidden screen Sad

Could you not try with an app on your phone if you place the phone at the far right of the screen?
 Cheers Ian

Anyone who has a Disco 4 must own a TomTom, unless you like pointless deviations and Censored routes from A to B, and the TomTom will give you the GPS speed.

I might have to try again but I just can't get a reliable GPS signal inside the car. I can get one outside the car but the screaming and whining from SWMBO when I politely ask her to hang out of the window with the GPS unit makes it very difficult to ask her what the speed is.

Maybe I need to fasten her more securely to the roof rack instead. Whistle

I've never tried anywhere than the bottom right hand corner of the windscreen where my TomTom gets an excellent signal.

The Blackvue gets a good GPS signal close to the rear view mirror too.

Never had any problems getting a strong GPS signal from my iPhone 5; I wonder if Sat position has something to do with it, or does the front screen in the UK have a metallic film the one in Australia doesn't have.

Had a quick try again this morning.

The bottom right corner of the screen has a nice gap in the heating elements and I do get a better GPS fix there. Now I just need to work out a way of mounting the GPS or phone there so that I can read the screen whilst driving. Thumbs Up
