Grabber tyres

I am looking to replace my Wrangler tyres Evil or Very Mad and was thinking of putting on Grabber AT2's - 255/60 18's. I want to stick with 18'' rims for now. Anyone have any views on these tyres or a better alternative for 18'' rims? I use the Disco 90% on tar (so road noise important) and then some gravel, sand etc - little to no mud requirement.

I looked at them briefly . Seem OK and priced well , but I decided to go for BFG AT instead as I wanted thicker side walls

For what you're looking for, the Grabber AT2 sounds perfect.

As with almost any AT tyre, they're crap in thick/deep mud, but work very well on most other surfaces.

They are also very good on road and as quiet as some of the 'tamer' AT-R type tyres.

I've been using them for 1.5 years and never had any problems apart from ripping a good chunk out of the sidewall on a sharp rock last weekend. If you need something with stronger sidewalls, then the BFG A/T is a good choice, but they're not as good on-road and make more noise.

Don't forget to consider the new Cooper LTZ's in 18"
It's a Sport/AT tyre, I run them in 20" and find them excellent both on and off road.
No extra road noise versus my Grabber UHP road tyres.

I went the AT tire route because of the pot holes in our roads.
Have a set of Bridgestone Dueler D 694 At's, not noisy and a
very good all round tire.
 D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

Side wall punctures: AT2 Looks don't count

I have been using AT2 Grabbers since November 2007 and have lost 7 tires to date on various offroad conditions. The 260 profile is too low and tire is flimsy ...
Arrow 5 Sidewalls puntured: it is very thin and cannot bear heavy loads. You need sturdy sidewalls. Even if pumped up to 3.3 bar, the sidewalls get compressed on side slopes and on sharp rocks under load, ... in short these tires are utter RUBBISH in rocky terrain and cannot carry loads and fail on side slopes
Arrow 2 lost due to penetration of rocks through tread. Exclamation

I have seen the 285/265/18 BFG (not in action) and I will buy these when the I have killed the last AT2's. From the 285/265/17 BFG's which I have seen in extensive offroad action, the thick strong sidewalls will make a difference.

I regret not getting the BFG's straight away.

(ps 2 relatively new AT2 285/260/18 for sale. the rest for free, with 5 oem Wranglers ..

AP I think 285 might have rubbing issues . i have just put 265 on mine and they do rub slightly under full steering lock

Heine Thumbs Up You are right 265/65 Embarassed /18 will be what can go on... the 285 won't do.
You have 265/65 on 18inch?

The 265/65/17 is a great tire but I Big Cry cannot get myself to buy a new set of 6 rims + rubber at the moment to go there ... see Martin Krutli on his 265/65 18's at http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic38985-15.html Do you agree, BFG in 18 inch seems to be fine?

I had 2 sets for 17 " for the diesel - but the V8 can't go smaller than 18 " . Big Cry I have put on the AT's as a compromise , I would have preferred MT's but not as a daily drive
