Great value Head Torch for probing about in the dark?
I have been told about a great head torch in a value for money way, used by a lot by walkers/hikers and possibly the green party. So in an act of forum friendship I have placed the link below. You can see the reviews for yourself and all of it's capabilities, I don't have one yet, mine is ordered, probably not get it until Monday now, so make your own mind up. It was the free Duracell batteries that did it for me
Are you a cammo man, desert/bush, or pink and female?
If anyone wants to sort out a group buy you can save £1.50 each with 5 or more, but having witnessed group buys, for this saving it is not worth the bother as all need to be the same colour and to the same address, meaning more onward posting!
Check out the product images further down the page after pressing buy, it shows tha the torch can also be attached to other things such as cycle helmets, handy for finding your way back to your tent during forum weekends away

Went to buy another, both cammo models now sold out! , had to get Fandango
Ended up buying a set of Titanium folding cutlery as well with their special offer, don't know why, but always handy if getting a curry on the way home

Lovin' the titanium chopsticks - handy for Potnoodles?
Alpkit produce fantastic kit I can highly recommend all their items.
I use their sleep mats, have a couple of their LED head torches, my wife has a down sleeping bag from them (very warm..., plus a few other bits and pieces.
They are able to pass on great prices as they are internet only, small and produce items in "fixed bataches". The downside is that sometimes you might have to wait a long time before their next batch is produced...
And their customer care service is great.
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Agreed - Alpkit gear is the absolute badger's nadgers I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Thanks for the reviews guys, seems the info I got from my climber friends was correct
Looking forward to trying it out, it does seem a neat job compared to the big sticky out ones

Well mine has arrived with a hand written note from 'Izzy' What a GREAT piece of kit, well made and fantastic value for money with so many different led's used and functions, see below:
There don't seem to be any instructions but I have worked it out, here are some hints:
To get the battery case open, a twist action is used on the non button end, from the bottom the batteries should face out + - +
You put the torch on by pressing the orange button on the top of light unit:
First press - high power
Second Press - low power
Third press - strobe
Fourth press - off
Holding down the power button for a couple of seconds activated the mini coloured and white lights:
First press - white on
Second press - green on
Third press - red on
Fourth press - red strobe (only works if pressed again immediately after selecting red)
Fifth press - off
There is also a button on the rear battery unit with an orange button, this operates a rear red light:
First press - red light on
Second press - red strobe on
Third press - off
This does not effect the function of the front light

My 2yr old has been having great fun going around with one of the head torches on for the last 1hr Nice and light and easy to wear

Mine arrived today - glad Discotres worked out how to use them though - saved me quite a while.
Bright aren't they? Was looking directly into the main light when I first switched it on, and I can't see a thing now... 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)
