On the bus ride down to KL saw another old wrecked SWB but beside it was a S3 swb that could have been straight out of the showroom. I did think there could well be money in buying up 110s and S3s, shipping them back by the ship load and flogging them here! Even saw an immaculate S1. It’s amazing what a decent climate does. Thumbs Up

I must be slipping, either they was too nice or I’m going soft in my old age. Mind you, the S word, shipping, did cross my mind. Thumbs Up

And greetings from a mahooooooosive tropical downpour in KL. Lightning within 400m, a bit of light rain and someone’s removed the buildings across the road. Shocked

This was a few minutes ago, and we thought it was heavy then.

This is now.

At least the wine isn’t affected. Enjoying a bit of VC after 10 dry days, predominantly Muslim areas of MY and Ramadan are good for the liver.

PS And on our travels we’ve seen lots of machines selling lots of stuff. Cold drinks, hot drinks, food, umbrellas, soup stock, electrical stuff, masks, etc etc etc. But in the LRT station in KL (Ampang Park) there is a newbie. Hot Wheels!!

Deffo a blast from the past. Thumbs Up

They are indeed. Thumbs Up

All quiet now. Bit surreal now, watching 2 French chefs on Beeb doing Parisian restaurants. Sounds like a future trip in the offing. Whistle

Really liking Kuching. It feels totally different from W Malaysia. After a day of not venturing to far from the bathroom yesterday (KL equiv of Delhi Belly) food was to be on the safe side. Found a nice safe option, in the shape of a Balkan pizza joint!

And note the can of Tiger, it’s the first time we’ve seen beer freely available. Some restaurants have alcohol but it feels weird asking for the stuff. Here it’s back to being “normal”, even though still technically a Muslim country. And they even make the stuff. This brew was lovely!

And an evening pic of the State Legislature.

And local mosque. We still get the usual Call to Prayers.

We’ve only got a few days here, so much to see in such little time. And that’s just the local shopping centre’s food court!! Thumbs Up

And no monkeying round this end, morning off down to the orangutang sanctuary S of Kuching. Pics & vid taken a-plenty. More to follow but here’s one of the big boys heading to breakie.

Mural on a wall near the Kuching bus station. We are off in search of these chappies.

Knackered looking coach, but the fare was about 16p for 45min ride, and was comfy with good AC so not complaining.

Then boat from Baku to NP.

Ours boat is the one on the left, we’ve to call him when we’re ready to leave tomorrow. Hopefully the ring tone will wake the captain, he was sound asleep when we rolled up!

And before we checked in a warning not to go for a dip! Luckily we’d both left our cossies back in our main packs in Kuching hotel.

At Baku NP, home of proboscis monkeys!! This one was right next to park HQ.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Then a bit of an arduous hike on the “easy” trail. Hike past main beach.

To little beach about 1km away. One of the most knackering 1kms we’ve done. We are now back at HQ and both soaked to the skin with sweaty stuff!

We could have called for a boat back, not that we had the number, but hiked back. 200m back we came across a family of proboscis monkeys moving through the trees, incl mammas with little ‘uns. Not easy to photograph but was great just watching them while having a breather.

Night walk tonight so hopefully pics of creepie crawlies! Now got to get out of sweaty gear and hope it dries as we’ve left 95% of our gear in the hotel in Kuching.

Will bung up orangutan pics once I get phone charged. Thumbs Up

PPPS (if too many Ps I blame the beers!) it was a beautiful sunset! Photo was taken at much personal risk running the gauntlet of boar and a plethora of bats out to feast on bugs. I wish them much success! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Assorted bugs and beasties pics from Kuching and surrounds.

From Orangutang sanctuary. We saw 3 there. They are wild but come back to base for feeding twice a day, if they feel like it. Previous morning they stayed away.

Flying (though more like gliding) lemur.

And this cheekie chappie climbing up to our roof using our patio area. Like it was his!! At least it wasn’t the monkey that was stealing food at breakie. Whatever was in the bag he nicked from a couple of tables down really agreed with him.
