Halfords portable gas cooker...

Cheap as chips.... the single ring gas cooker that even has its own plastic case...ideal to keep in the boot for use on picnics or cooking sausages in the forests of Rally Wales...
Currently only £8! How do they do that? Shocked

The later design of these don’t allow them to be stored in their case with the gas canister still in place... you have to turn the stove grill upside down and the cylinder has to be released before it will close down properly...

Great for a quick cup of tea or frying bacon and eggs in the forest! Very Happy

We've just ordered a Kampa Gas BBQ https://www.kampa.co.uk/accessory/sizzle-table-top-barbecue

Very similar to the cookers, but a bit more expensive. We're going to try it out in the Pyrenees, but also have a few gas cookers like that and they're great for rallying. I've also got a Jetboil for drinks.

Bought one of those to cook the bacon at brands hatch last month. The gas didn't like being on full in the cold. Kept swapping the canisters over and it was fine.
Was great when it's working properly. Thumbs Up

That's a butane thing Dan. Butane doesn't like it when it's close to freezing that's why a butane/propane mix is better for colder weather as it doesn't freeze quite as easily.
Thumbs Up

Had a few of these over the years. Problem is that they take too long to cook. Very low BTU.

Also, the cans are small we used to go through loads.

Only have (something similar) as a backup cooking solution now.

I knew butane wasn't so good but didn't think it was that cold for it to be an issue but clearly it was. Think the grill must use a fair bit more as never had such an issue with the stoves. Thumbs Up

For cold weather and or overlanding you look no further than a coleman dual fuel cooker. They are about second hand. I got a nearly new one from Facebook Marketplace for £50 not long back.

Petrol is available all over the world (at least - all over the world where you might take your vehicle!) where the particular gas bottle/can you want might not be.

High BTU. Boils a kettle much faster.
