Handbrake squeek

I know this has been covered elsewhere but I would just like to get an idea of the amount of people with the auto box who that when you use the auto release on the handbrake get the squeek?

I had this for a while , it went away but has now come back with avengence.

When I asked before, the dealer said that the earlier cars had a memo to have parts replaced but mine would just need stripping and cleaning.

Are they trying to say that this will happen every few k and that they will need stripping to cure.

Anyone who has had this problem please let me know your experiences as I am going to add this to my list of woes with the dealer.

Cheers

Gone but not forgotten !!!

My '06 MY was in for this last week. Unfortunately the squeek had turned into an almighty howl Rolling Eyes The dealers were very good as I just nipped in and they provided me with a courtesy car and said come back tomorrow. They apparently cleaned out the handbrake assembly and that was it. I assumed it was cleared but definitely got a slight squeek again today when I set off to LRE Malverns.

Interestingly at the Experience centre my instructor said they never use the handbrake... Read into that what you will... Wink
