The hazards flash and all the internal systems shutdown.

A few days ago got strange problem, radio and nav shut down 2-3 times while I was driving. Thought this might be fuse or humidity of Irish weather. Yesterday got same problem plus the hazards flash, central lock on/off and all the internal systems shutdown '---' for the ext temp and clock, Could not start again. I had checked:
fuses
brake bulbs
modules behind battery, found little bit of green corrosion on middle plug, no water, clean with cleaner.
Battery new and good
Alternator charges well
Removed Instrument cluster and checked rear connection all looks fine
break switch looks fine working normal.

getting errors from GAP
steering angle
u0155-87(2F) lost communication with instrument cluster control module- bus signal/message failure

Did try clear this errors but no luck keep coming back, could not start engine,

question 1
Did not checked 2 plugs under wheel arch? Didn't know witch wheel arch?

question 2
If I buy integrated transfer case module second hand seen lots on ebay,
Do I need do some cloning, copy or it is straight forward swap?
Will I buy exact same model or could be one from D4?

question 3
I gave electronic instrument cluster to some car magician to be checked. I hope I don't need buy new one (virgin new without vin coded)
Is there any soldering involved if I will get second hand cluster?

question 4
Anybody can see this mess with cable zip and peace of white plastic? I don't think so this is how car left factory? must be some DIY job?

Have you had a feel of the carpet in the front passenger side footwell?

Even better would be to lift up the trade plat trim at the door so you can get under the carpet.

If wet, have a look in the wiring loom that runs along the side of the car and see if you got water in there.

If so, the issue could be a corroded splice joint in there. There’s a really good thread somewhere on here about it and the fix. Think it’s one of the stickies threads?

Could be wrong though, but thought I’d throw this out there

I did have some water leak but on the driver side (no sunroof, but I guess some water went thru A trim exterior) a couple weeks ago got that clean and dry, striped today driver side, removed driver seat and lifted carpet, no sign of damage, checked all plugs as I could see but no water on them.

Found the thread

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/remote-lock...ell+wiring

But clearly my memory is going. Had thought that splice could cause CANBUS issues but seems it’s just central locking.

Think the thread I was thinking of was this one

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/disco-cut-w...10716.html

This is the connectors behind the wheel arch.

Well it would appear to be a wiring fault. If I start the car car move the wires in the black connector behind the passenger side rear wheel it instantly lowers, hazards etc! Seam to be getting somewhere now!
Big thanks to everyone especially Disco_Mikey Thumbs Up

It is now possible to replace a defective instrument pack with a used unit for the following vehicles:
Discovery 3/LR3, All
Range Rover Sport, 2005-2009
This feature is only available with an IIDTool. A brand new Instrument Pack unit is required for all other diagnostic tools. Available upon request only.

I found this on GAP website. Did anyone tried? I have obdII GAP tool I can see there is option Learn VIN.

When fitting a replacement cluster, you can only raise the mileage, not lower it (for obvious fraud reasons)
So if the used unit you are fitting has a lower mileage than your car, you can raise it to match.

If it is higher, you can't change it to match your vehicle's mileage.

I fitted a new cluster to mine usign an IID to solve symtoms almost identical to those described above.

Becuae I used an IID (as opposed to an IID BT) I had to use the windows compatabiltiy function, with the tool connected to my laptop (since the Integrated display was the thing being changed...)
New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

I don't mind millage (313k km happy with this) just want my car back on road. How to use gap? I got back my cluster back (I was told by magician supposed to be fixed but got same issue). Tried to fit second cluster today but I got same issue like hazard light and door locking on off, then could not connect gap, then battery went dead... Charging battery and try again tomorrow.

Just checked all over again:
break light switch,
plugs behind arch,
splice cable passenger door floor, (nice and clean like new)
charged battery,

still getting same issue:
first hazard lights, central lock, then flood of errors on cluster display.
Looks like still instrument cluster does not communicate with rest of the car?

Lost the battle. Give up, Calling tow truck....

I had exactly the same symptoms in my D3 almost 3 years ago. The cars systems slowly shut down and the hazards decided to flash uncommanded by me. I got to my destination, had a beer and a sandwich, went back to the car and everything was fine. On the way home the symptoms re-appeared.
A replacement (new) instrument pack/cluster was required and fixed it. The pack was c.£t600 ISTR.
Good luck.

I got my disco yesterday, I could not believe what was the issue? Magician did some job on cluster, (wasn't the issue but got charged for it) then they took radio out and car got life back!! All this problems because stupid radio!! (fuse was ok) I did open radio and see slightly patina around processor legs and somewhere else little as well, will try to re solder and see. But will be looking for new (second hand genuine radio) or retro fit. Prices for second hand are mental 350 plus delivery the cheapest one on ebay? and could be the same in couple of months? Is this radios are failing easily? Anybody tried to fix?
One more time thanks for help.
