HDC faulty?
My D3 has not been used for about a week and has been sat there in the cold with no faults before hand, but when i went to drive it today a fault message comes up sayin the HDC has a fault and unavailable and an amber light comes on,this only happends when i start the engine but not before when its doing its checks or wotever it does? but i can still use the hdc and it works fine, does anyone know whats up? and can i fix it?
Could just be a low battery, be worth checking the voltageThe End

I had this on my D3 when I started it last night and again this morning, put it down to it not being used for 12 days when temps were down to -8c for a while. Did a 30 mile run today and seems OK after that. Might try and find the battery trickle charger if it does it again.

I have just noticed this on my D3 as well, I put it down to the freezing cold weather and hope the fault clears when the temperature rises. Its put my mind at rest knowing that Im not the only one with this HDC problem.

Last year car was in conditions down to -19c and behaved perfectly (HDC wise, height sensors is another issue). Difference this year is that the car was not being driven as SWMBO was using her D3 rather than mine so battery not fully charged. Snowing heavily now so will be out to play tomorrow, purely to charge up the battery, honest!!!

I've just had a similar problem, and also shows message 'Special Programs Off' on startup first thing in the morning.
After reading all the threads on the site I came to the conclusion that it was probably low voltage on the battery first thing in the morning.
Trip to the dealers showed battery on way out. So new battery, all problems now solved AND a big thanks for all the advice on the site, owning a Disco 3 has been made a lot easier from advice on here over the years!
Didn't fancy calling LRA over Christmas.........

Anyone know how much a D3 battery costs, wondering if it's worth changing mine preventatively in the New Year???

Local LR dealer charged me £157 supplied and fitted.
Gotta admit I expected more. But for the price wasn't worth the hassle of waiting till it was on it's last legs, especially at Christmas!
