No idea what my xenons are but the high beam halogens are osram nightbreakers. Replaced them last year together with the cornering and position lights and they’ve been good since.
As this is the D4 side, I think you’re kind of having to accept the facelift lights and their light output or lack thereof. Consensus seems to be that they’re worse than the original D4 lights which are worse than the D3 lights. The fairy lights do look cool though, loved them on my D4.

2014, I think, is on the cusp … do you have the dipped beam xenons with halogen mainbeam fill-in (pre-facelift) or single xenon source for main and dipped beam ?
second one, the facelift version, is a triumph of form over function. neat design but less good at lighting the road !

in that case … go for the best xenons you can get. many on here swear by the Osram Nightbreakers IIRC. I've got the Halogen versions in both main and dipped (2011 halogen units) and the are at least as good as the 100W bulbs I tried for a while. Off road obviously

Night Breakers are fantastic, but at a dual cost...
They're fairly expensive and they don't last long 2013 Discovery 4 HSE Lux | 2001 Defender 90 TD5 | 2007 Prodrive RB320
mine have outlasted the "bargain" Japanese super-bright ones …

I moved from a MY13 to a MY14 and also noticed that the lighting of the facelift lamps is sadly worse than the older version. There are apparently two main reasons for this:
- Missing dedicated 55W main beam lights
- Beam pattern is different and thus illumination of street signs, etc is worse. Dgardel posted some pics of the difference in another thread.
