Heading down to Southern Spain 🇪🇸

Hi all, we are going to be heading down to Albunol (nearish Almeria airport), this epic adventure will be starting at the end of July and will driving from the Uk catching the Channel tunnel. We are staying with my Dad in albunol and decided to incorporate a road trip to create some family moments on route. Plus our 8 year old doesn't want to fly lol 😂 any advice would be welcomed.
It is myself the wife, my 13 year old step daughter and our 8 year old son ohh and a trusty Landy Smile

Get a peage tag for France, or if during the peak French holiday travel w/ends avoid the autoroutes. Or a combo of the two. Thumbs Up

Lol EBP = hey son does this rag smell of chloroform?

I have a tag for France is it the pollution one? Does it just go in the windscreen where are tax would normally be? Just looking online for headlight deflectors,as I'm not sure our 2008 has the switch built into the light units? Just got it back from having tracking at dealership and seems a little more precise and having the service tell me the critical bolts were not tightened enough was a little worrying BUT reassuring as they checked everything I guess...

The Low Emission Zone one if you haven't already fitted it, goes on the inside of the windscreen in the bottom right hand side, so that it can be read from the pavement side in France. For general info, the sticker comes with instructions, but in French. Be carefull for once any part of it touches the glass there is NO chance of moving it

Others will advise you on the motorway toll Tag.

SANEF tag. Lots of info on here and a website in English plus UK helpline. Brilliant bit of kit. Highly recommend. We reckon it saved us about an hour each way in total on a run to the Alps earlier this year.

We tend to go via Rouen and the A28. Never go near Paris these days.

Did this road trip last summer, was superb. Went via Calais then Dijon, Barcelona, Valencia and returned via Valencia, Zaragoza, San Sebastian, Tours.

Can you beat my range... did home (Saffron Walden) to Girona on one tankful. Bow down

Father in law won't pay tolls on way down. It takes him an extra 2- 2.5 hrs.

It is true that it is a nicer drive but he is on holiday. We just want to get home, so quicker is better.

Tolls for us are about 45e but a steady cruise down on the Autoroute gives us better mpg. I reckon it costs 35e in tolls if you take that in to account.

It does get tedious though.
