Won't go the other way because there are no holes for the side support bolts. Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up it was just incase you hadn’t got the side bars.
Probably the first thing I’d do is check what height does the ball hitch need to be at for towing your trailer and work around that. How much of the removable bike carrier is left on the D3 when not in use and is it out of the way when towing.
This is mine and I pull two different trailers that can be loaded 2-3 tonnes. Luckily they both work at the same height.

I am towing an Ifor Williams HB510 twin axel, I think the recommended height is 430mm

There is not much of the bike carrier that stays on permanently I will try to add a picture

My other option would be to use the bike rack as a spacer behind the tow ball but it is 40mm thick and is just hollow box section so presumably I would need to drill it out and fit a sturdy sleeve so that it didn't crush it when I tighten the tow ball

England

there is some legislation about how thick spacers can be (a max size) and I think its 25mm, but you would need to check

The setup you have there looks perfect Thumbs Up
I wouldn’t put the bar behind the ball hitch.

Thanks everyone, I am so glad I found this site, this is my first Disco and have only had it a month so I am sure I will need plenty more advice in the future. next thing I need is some long roof rails but one thing at a time, I will fit the tow bar first when I get a moment
