HELP !! doubt about installing lower front suspension arms!!
Hello everyone, I find myself in the need to replace, and it would be the second time, these suspension arms. I see from the opinions of some illustrious that the definitive solution is to put the after market model that dispenses with the lubricated silentblocks and opts for the Meyle HD. It is what I now intend, and here comes my doubt and question, The manufacturer warns that the tightening must be done "under load" and I do not know very well what that means and if it has and specifies a certain procedure to apply. I clarify that my knowledge of the matter is zero, but, with your help, I want to protect the installer. Thanks in advance and good week to all of you!lost in translation!

Do I understand correctly if I say that they are simply mounted and their screws are approximated and tightened once the car is out of the elevator past on the ground? If so, is there a specified tightening torque?lost in translation!

Yes, it simply means the car must be on 4 wheels, at standard height, when the bolts are finally tightened.Richard

And, I think, Tight Tolerance Mode should be enabled using iiD or similar, but I also recall some of the more experienced on here don't think it necessary.
Don't just drop the car then tighten, shuffle it around a bit to let suspension settle first..

Hi! Your mechanic or anyone else who installs the control arm must tighten the bolts of the bushings and the strut to ride height. This is to prevent the bushing is twisted too much once the normal condition is reached. The ride height is 466mm from the center of the drive shaft to the bottom of the fender.
The easiest way to tighten is to deflate the shock and then use a jack to push Knuckel up (to 466mm).
Meyle have a very good reputation and probably last forever!

Yes! You need a 24mm socket in long version. Otherwise, you can’t reach the nut.
The bolts for mounting the arm to the frame should be torqued with 275 nm. The Strut to the arm 300 nm. You need a proper torque wrench

Can anyone offer comment on the Meyle HD front lower arms? How was the ride? How does this compare to the standard hydro bushes in the Land Rover stock arms? I’m not prepared to compromise ride quality (the real benefit of the Disco 3/4) over longevity of the bush. I’m told by someone else the Meyle HD solid bushes are for the armoured vehicle (hence why it will last longer), but would like your thoughts on comfort/ harshness of the ride etc. thanks.

Had Meyle HD arms on several cars (annd not just LR) and (as far as I can tell) the ride isn’t affected. There is another version that is for armoured vehicles but the standard Meyle HD are absolutely fine… get a price from Advanced Factors and take away the forum discount for a good deal I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I absolutely agree, nothing changes in terms of the dynamics and comfort of the car, and the feeling of tranquility due to its longevity improves a lot!!lost in translation!

Thank you for your replies. There’s currently some deals on eBay for a set (both sides) for £250. But these won’t come supplied with the fitting hardware. I’ve read that it is best going LR original hardware for reliability and longevity reasons. But LR is so expensive- for a few nuts & bolts ! Thanks again
