Help finding a Land Rover mechanic that works with customer
Hi all.
First post and first D3 !
8th Land Rover in over 15 years and still passionate !!
So my question is anyone know of a decent mechanic in Gloucestershire who is honest, actually knows his stuff and will come to me or doesn’t mind me being very involved.
I’m a fairly confident home mechanic as worked for DAF many years ago and did all my own lorries etc. Just had a fuel issue and found a mobile guy that is nice but if I’m honest I’m paying him to guess fault finding no better than I can.
Can anyone help ?
Mobile mechanic is great as we have 4 post lift at my yard .
Hope this is in the right section
Look forward to chatting with y’all
Sam

Hey Sama, may be a couple on here, maybe in your area. For most garages and mechanics they usually apply the standard price tariff (I have it on my tool box for the wife’s reference )

I'll say it
There is nothing worse than someone watching over your shoulder, or trying to get involved and "help"
Just leave them alone to fix your car, your only getting in the way My D3 Build Thread
I Actually dont mind somebody watching me being mobile for so long you get used to it. I mean if the person looking on tries to tell you how to do it, then thats a different story.

Question for those who carry out repairs for a living - do you ever get frustrated that you get called out to deal with really basic problems? I know you get paid to deal with them, but do you sometimes think "You really ought to be able to do that yourself."?2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue

Welcome to the forum , lots of attitudes here I see !
I’m not watching over someone’s shoulder like a prick . If your too arrogant to work as a team then your obviously not the person I’d have in my yard. When I worked fir Leyland DAF is was all about helping each other out .
Wouldn’t expect anything less from a forum and this attitude confirmed my annoyance with being charged £75/ hour to watch so called mechanics google stuff .
If your worth your money then what’s to hide ?
25 years as an arborist and always had customers watching our work . When your good at what you do who cares

Hey Sama,
Don’t take it the wrong way you’ll tend to find the guys on here will be round your house in 10 minutes if you have a problem, and we’ll all get our hands dirty.
The ask was around professional mechanics, and they, like most professionals, “prefer” the customer to back off so they can get the job done
There is a lot of attitude on here, but it’s all good (sarcastic sometimes) but you couldn’t get a better bunch of people helping each other out 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Unfortunately, it sounds like you picked the wrong mobile mechanic.
I'm only speaking for myself here, but all legalities/H&S aside, this is what I do for a living. These are the cars I have repaired for the last 16 years. If your in the way, "helping", your not really helping
If your capable of doing it yourself, you wouldn't be calling anyone to do the work and help out
Best advice I can give you now, is find a well recommended Indy Specialist, and get the car to them. A proper diagnostic session will always end up much cheaper than parts darts My D3 Build Thread
