I once knew a trainee surveyor who washed her company car with a brillo pad
She also bought a VAX to suck up puppy wee
Then there was the time she borrowed her bosses car, laddered her tights, so bought new ones and changed them in the car... leaving the old ones for his wife to find

I know I'm going to get shot down in flames for this question... and I've probably been living in a cave for too long... but what is the problem with using washing up liquid to clean the car?
It's not me you understand - it's just a friend who wants to know - I wouldn't dream of using it personally !!!

What are the shiny bits? Any part numbers would be useful?
I can find the reflection trims for the mirrors and air intake but not door handles so not sure if this is a new part.2012 D4 - SDV6 XS - Firenze Red

just WOW!
fab polish and equally fab shiny bits.
What make are your alloys and sidebars?
I want side bars but not sure about fitting. I understand that the air suspension pipes get in the way on the back rhs (or is it lhs) fitting holes. Did you have any probs? Or did you get them fitted?
Get you kit here.

Excellent service.
btw, get a thumbless mitt.
That way you can swivel it around your hand getting more use than just a single side.
or .... were you taking the P*ss
What do you get if you have two thumbs? Googsy

Doesn't it damage the paint being designed to remove food from plates.

As with any alkaline based cleaner, washing up liquid removes the oils from the paint and makes it go flat. If the damage is bad enought water will also pass through the paint causing further damage.
Do not use washing up liquid to wash your car.Kevin

Good point, but I had always understood that that it somehow dulled the shine on the paint. I don't know why or how, never having used it
