As stated in the link, washing up liquid is a very good cleaner. So much so it'll remove most things from the paintwork, including wax, sealant and for those of you that have the 'supaguard wonder product' if you use washing up liquid mixed with warm to hot water on the car, say goodbye to it. Not totally but in patches.
I use a certain amount in a special mix as a co-polymer removal solution to strip protection from a car that has a poor sealant application or wax coat.
It has it's uses, just not on the weekly sunday wash, or in the D3 community who all advocate muck, the wash prior to trading it in.

Just resurecting this old chestnut. I have a good few areas of bad bramble rash to take care of and a few deeper scratches that I may just have to live with. I've ordered some sooper dooper car wash stuff (Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner) and a clay kit (Quik Clay Detailing System) along with a sheepskin mit. Anything else I need to get?? Will get a few 99p builders buckets from B&Q and only use them for car washing (only one I could find had been used for mixing something or other).
Thoughts anyone???

Oh Derek that's the most common mistake you all make spend lots on the chemicals then skimp on the bucket.
For the Chemicals to work you really should use a bucket with a hi Polymer content this ensures that the chemical / water reaction is correct

The chemical water interaction will be fine, worked well with washing up liquid so should be good with the posh stuff!!! Ignoring the steel handle part, I'll make sure it is 100% polymer. Now do I need a left or right handed bucket???

Don't know about left or right handed buckets but I've got a middle leg bucket that was occasionally used during our bathroom redesign/build. You're welcome to borrow keep it............ The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

OK folks, got my special shampoo, a poor lamb gave up its skin for the mit, planet ruined cause I needed 2 buckets (blame ronp for that), been introduced to the dark art of claying, sold my soul for wax and sealing stuff and spent 5 hours on Sunday tending to my beloved (D3, not SWMBO!!). Result is as below. Now you have to look for the bramble rash & other offroad scars, even got the from Mrs DSL who had a lazy Sunday morning and thinks the car looks "nice". Result!
Shame I'm going offroading on Sunday and it will all get covered in mud!
