Help re: Preheater (base model)

How do I use the preheater on a base model? I can't bring up the control options on the dash, so what's the point in having the b***dy thing?

Its not controllable.

Is an automatic system designed to start up at below 5 degrees to assist with engine warm up.

Works very well as heaters start pumping warm air VERY quickly on cold mornings.

Its listed by LR as a Fuel Burning Supplementary Heater and is not what was thought of previously a Pre Heater.

Its there, it just works and is very useful on cold mornings.

Older MY05 vehicles that have not had the latest instrument software loaded can fool the heater into working by using a workaround / hack.

I have queried the fact that my TDv6 RRS isn't fitted with a Fuel Burning Heater with LR Customer Services and have just at 0900/ 29th March received this answer. So if you don't have an FBH there is a Technical bulletin about it.

Now next question................ does anybody know if this bulletin refers to fitting a heater or to the software for one?

Good morning Mr Oliver

The dealership can rectify this for you under technical bulletin no. LS412-001 06 Jan 06

Kind regards

Subject: Pre heating on TDv6 Range Rover Sport

Good morning,

I have a very early Range Rover Sport SE TDv6 that seems to take an age to warm up on cold mornings (even longer than my 1996 Defender TDi300). I have read on various internet websites that this engine should have a fuel
burning engine preheater however I am unable to locate it in the position
behind the right (passanger side) headlamp where several of my friends have them fitted................ my car was fitted with the Cold Climate Pack and it seems a strange omission when both the Freelander TD4 and the Range Rover TD6 that I owned both had these heaters fitted. There is no evidence of the tiny exhaust under the front grille or in the wheelarch.

My Sport has the VIN SALLxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The engine number is 0205xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Car Registration is PXXXXX

Can you advise if I should have a preheater please?

Regards
