Hi and a general pricing question
Hi all,
Joined the forum a few weeks (months?) back and have just been lurking in the background... thought I’d better say hello!
Up until recently I had a Nav but Nissan bought it back as part of the snapped-chassis recall. As such, I’m in between vehicles (borrowing a little 107 at the moment! ha) and have settled on finding a suitable Disco 3 HSE - I’m in desperate need of a 7 seater 4x4 now as we have another child due April. Anyhow, I’ve been on Autotrader, eBay and searched a few on here and they (HSEs) seem to vary hugely in price between - what I would consider - comparable examples with similar SH, years, mileages and so on; why is this?
Cheers, Sam

Two identical looking D3s, same year and mileage, one well maintained, one not so, the later can easily need £6-7000 to make it as good as the well maintained one, this doesn’t mean if you buy the most expensive you can find it will not need money spent on it, most vehicles advertised on here have been well maintained and cared for, good maintenance is paramount with Discos It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi,
I appreciate that but I'm considering the SH of the vehicles I look at too (inc. belts etc) - they still seem to have around a £1500 jump / drop between the comparable vehicles (ie. FSH, belts etc. changed / work carried out, milage, spec)... I don't think I've ever really seen this when looking for vehicles in the past. Cheers, Sam

Maintenance is expensive unless you can do it yourself, and even then it can hurt Its not really surprising if owners of well maintained cars are looking to claw something back. I spend around €1000 a year on maintenance all of which I do myself. If I had to pay someone I would have to consider the viability of ownership.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

[For Sale] 2006 Discovery 3 Metropolis Report post
So here is my well looked after Disco 3 for sale. I have had it for four years and really enjoyed it. Now I have moved up to a Discovery 4, I need to sell this one.

hi,
each car has to be seen and taken on its merits, there can be a Big difference between 2 cars that sound the same in an advert.
how they have been looked after is often clearer when you see them in the flesh and as it has been said ^^ its easy to spend a few thousand on some general maintenance
some cars with shabby interiors or bodywork you would have to spend lots on to make good again.
its horses for courses have a look at a few in the flesh and see what you might spend on them
