Do our high-level brake lights flash?

I was following a vectra today through a notoriously icy part of Cheshire and going down a hill his high-level brake light flashed quickly for a second or so (the side ones stayed on constantly). As I went over the same bit of road, my brake pedal pulsed briefly - ABS had kicked in.

His flashing brakelight was obviously linked to the ABS activation - does ours do the same?

I was thinking the same thing the other day Shocked

Following a boy racer Vauxhall Corsa and he had to slam all on and his high level flashed away,

Personally i thought "whats that doing that for" Confused , not "He must be doing an emergency stop" Shocked

Think various Audi and Vauxhalls do this, given no-one seems to have publicised this "feature", its going to be meaningless to the vast majority of car drivers....and given it will take a couple of pulse cycles for the following driver to realise it really does mean brakes ON rather than just a quick tap when they first go out I would think it may delay reaction times fractionally rather than increase them Question
 Cheers

It worked for me but then I
a) had heard tell of this flashy feature before and
b) knew that the stretch of road we were on was probably going to be icy

Very Happy Maybe they haven't publicised it much as the manufacturers can't agree on what it is telling the driver behind.... Shocked

I don't recall seeing flashing brake lamps when driving off-road behind D3s whose ABS must have been active for at least some of the time (discounting HDC).

It could be the EBA emergency brake assist or how other companies call it. There is no standard I know that with a VW the warning lights go on if you brake hard enough. I don't know about the Opel/vauxhall.
