Lots of good advice and food for thought here - many thanks everyone . Red Merele - out of interest, in what way is the Landmark significantly higher spec than my current HSE ?Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Long roof rails, RSE, heated steering wheel, cornering higher spec headlights with signature DRL';s, premium leather seats, 825 watt sound system, premium carpet mats, stop/start system, Euro 6 engine, 8 speed gearbox to name just a few... .

@Smarticus:
If you're happy to send me your email address, I'll be able to give you access to a PDF of the original brochure and spec sheets and it'll give you chapter and verse.
The Landmark was a run out version that was a very close relative of the HSE Luxury, which was the one up from the HSE. As Canburne also says, it'll be the 8 speed auto as well, while Euro 6 compliance will give you a degree of protection against opportunistic anti-diesel tax grabs.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

My D4 has premium leather seats, rear heated seats, heated steering wheel, keyless entry & go, active rear diff, roof rails (don't much care for the look of full length silver rails), surround cameras, a proper gear lever (not a faffy dial ;o), winter tyres on 19" wheels (I don't like 20's), full size spare, a gutsier feel to the engine and triple sun roof. And it has Alpacca Leather interior which I much prefer over ivory. Non of the Landmarks I saw or drove felt any more premium to sit in or drive than my current vehicle. So I think I just convinced myself to stick with what I have and let nature take its course. Sorry to disappoint all those who have PM'd me enquiring about a private sale.
By the way, I was briefly tempted by a D5 HSE Lux 3.0 ex demo at Lloyds Kelso. That was £53k to change. But a test drive left me a bit underwhelmed, so again, no convincing argument for change. I have had every Disco to date (200tdi, 300tdi, Td5, D3 and D4). The new model always made a far stronger case for change over the previous model than the D5 does over the D4 IMHO.Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Your decision is probably right as yours is quite highly specced but the balance is the 8 speed gearbox which is excellent, the stop/start which gets you much lower VED and the Euro 6 engine. .

Yep, but 40k to change is the killer isn’t it! A properly working 6 speed D4 is no slower than the 8 speed, isn’t really any smoother and you don’t have to deal with the dial!
The only thing as you say is if Euro6 is required, but it’s still a 40k gamble when no one knows where taxation is going!
All things being equal, you would go for the Landmark, but they are not. There is a 40k gap for essentially the same car (age and mileage aside!)

The Landmark will be a smoother nippier ride than your early D4, improved Stat Nav, more toys, but was a slight varience on Landmarks what was fitted, things like Fridge, towbar, etc. About £200 per yr cheaper to Tax too.
I went through this dilemma before getting my Landmark, but no regrets, especially after seeing and driving the much more expensive D5 D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

As I can't find a replacement for the D4, I was keen to replace my written off 2016 Landmark with another one earlier this year. I'm very glad I did.
This would be the principle reason for change IMO. Now is the time to get a low mileage Landmark.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Maybe a used D4 would be good but the yeti is so cheap to run
Just traded our Fl2 for one of these with 50 miles on the clock and paid £20k. Seems like a D4 in miniature in that it’s shape is very practical, well equipped and very economical compared to the Fl2.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I was in a similar situation as yourself with a 2010 D4 with 120k miles. I bought a 66 plate Landmark for £41K in September. Have values of late D4s gone up?. I got £12.5K for my trade in.

Until there’s an adequate replacement for the D4, it will continue to be a seller’s market for really good, late, high spec examples.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

FWIW, I'd keep it ... if you've got the £37K, shove 10 of it in a bank account and carry on driving with the knowledge the Disco can be fixed no matter what it throws at you !
