High pitched Squeal on pull away - parking brake?

Can anyone help? - Our Disco 3 has started to make a high pitched squeal on pull away. It disappears once you touch the brakes. I've heard that the parking brake is prone to bind / stick. Could this be the start?

Look forward to any replies!

Hi Richard - Welcome!

Is it squealing when you disengage the park brake or after you've done that and pulled away?

It happens after the brake has disengaged and then as you pull away.

welcome to the club of "my epb needs cleaning", takes around an hour of workshop time to fix, if the cars still under warranty, some dealerships will do it foc to you, otherwise around £100 plus vat Thumbs Up

sounds like the epb is not actually dis-engaging on the leaver in the car, thus only gives when the vehicle moves off, classic symptom, when you park it, make sure you dont use the epb until serviced and park on level ground for the meantime in gear if manual or park with auto just in case it stays on and you have to be recovered by LRA

OR

phone LRA and they'll send out a LR trained tech to you, if necessary will recover you and give yer a loan car for a few days FOC !!!! Thumbs Up

Had the same thing twice recently. EPB strip and clean req, not covered under warranty and prices vary from £238 to around £150 for the work. I have the TSB and can tell you a little game to play with dealer...

Going by the exact words of the TSB they can only tell if it needs to be cleaned and adjusted IF they have stripped and checked it first. It could be playing up through a mechanical failure which IS covered by warranty.
Book it in to be checked, they MUST strip the EPB before they qoute you for the work. If they have not had in bits how do they know its not covered by warranty?
If they admit they are going by "previous experience" then threaten them with trading standards for qouting for work without checking first.
In summary, if they qoute you without taking the wheels of they are commiting fraud and are on thin ice.

Hope that made sense...

Did you drive on a gravel road lately? It could be a small stone sitting between your brakes.
