high sulphur fuel

(mods - this may be better in the tech section, or Africa section?.....)

considering a trans-Africa trip - one issue is the availability of low sulphur fuel may be limited, and so high sulphur has to be used. This causes damage to the cat and dpf - and probably engine management lights, limp-home mode, and potential stranding....

Any known/decent fixes? Might be any of the following:
(i) not really an issue but run on ULSC diesel asap
(ii) issue but remove cat/dpf and no clogging, light on dashboard but ignore
(iii) remap ems to remove sensor expectation from emissions systems

(disclaimer - it might also be in a Toyota, so experiences with the 1VD-FTV engine are also relevant - sorry!)

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
