Thanks METHLEY that's the one.
Just been down to try it and Dam!!! it does not work. The red engine icon thing is just that and it does not move at all.
So now I'm guessing that the RUNLOCK switch was probably part of the main switch panel mounted up where a GPS would be on a higher spec D3 - Yes ?
It seems a useful thing to have working, (warming the car without getting it nicked), so is it safe to play with the wiring to fix it ? - I hear bad things about the electrics on D3's and Rangies .

nudge bars have never been fitted to HA discos....(but would be a good idear)
The panel your talking about is usually removed as we need quick access to the front recovery points quickly.
The cubby hole where the sat nav normally is in HA spec has a speaker in it for the in car radio so there may be some holes under the rubber mat.

Thanks DAVE VX,
Only a Speaker ? - mine came without the rubber mat (£9.33 +VAT from LR dealer to replace) so the 3 fixing holes in the plastic lip at the front were very clearly visible but even more obvious was the 1" hole through the back of the box on the speedo side were the wiring harness came through from the engine compartment.
So with a that size I sort of assumed 'lots of wires' to a touch panel like the AA guys have in their vehicles. I know because my hire car broke down on Christams Eve and a nice guy in a yelow transit hauled me on a suspended tow up the M1 to to AVIS in Sheffeld to swop it for a working one. The touch panel controlled the company radio, the roof lights and his mobile phone as well.
Front Bumper - I'm guessing you mean its easy to haul stuff backwards rather than someone tow you
Question: "How many tyres have you go through"? - my service printout shows mine was fixed on-site or back at the depot many times in the 18 months the HA operated it. I guess its a hazzard of the job driving over glass and metal from crashes etc. all time
Cheers

additional equipment in cabin area is:-
speaker
radio
light in passenger footwell
light in roof area (interior)
mobile phone + mics
VMS display
Emergency lights control panel
Runlock
PTT on driver side
There will be extra holes for additional wiring for front and rear emergency lights and roof lights.
There may be other holes and wiring for all the kit behind the rear passenger seats (blackbox radio GPS etc etc)
Occasionally when required we will drag some using front recovery points.
We can get through dozens of tyres, if they can be repaired they will be. Or replaced as required ATS usually do the job. Pick up a lot of punctures from driving on the HS.
Enjoy your Disco. If you hop on over to http://national-pcsos.co.uk/h2phpBB3/index.php you might be able to find some additional info about your car (you need to register to see all the forums) be prepared for good/bad info though.

I trundled past a HA D3 this morning on the M5 near WSM. What are the extension mirrors fitted to the HA mirrors? TBH, I'm a bit disappointed by the mirrors on the D3 and as our primary use will be towing, decent mirrors are very important!

They're just blind spot mirrors that you can pick up from most car accessory shops Can't remember who makes them but i'll dig the info out if you want.

We bought our D3 to haul a caravan as well and have opted for the clip-on type of towing mirrors as these still alow the whole assembly to fold forwards or backwards. I have seen self-adhesive 'blind spot' mirrors in 'Halfords' and other stores, these stick on the main glass to give a wide angle view. Some cars have the outer edge of the glass already bent to achieve this.
Black Box - Thanks DAVE VX that answers the unasked question - "what's this hole for with all the cut off wires behind the rear seat".
However apart from 5 grommets on the roof for the lamp bar I have no other signs of external lights on the front or rear bumpers or in the lamp clusters. Anyone else got holes there ?
Cheers

HA7225, yes please. I haven't managed to find anything that can realistically stay on the vehicle all the time without reducing the capability of the mirror for normal use.

Hi Dave,
Your link would be more readily accessible if you removed the "[url" at the front and the "[/url]" at the end.
Best Wishes,
