Home made tablet mount

My LR3 (Discovery3) did not come equipped with the OEM display on the dashboard.
But I had a cheap tablet that I don't use, so I decided to see if I can 3d print a tablet mount.

The Garmin lock was printed with a resin printer whereas the holder itself was printed with an FDM printer.

I embedded two huge magnets inside the holder (about 1inch in diameter)

below the rubber mat, I place two metal plates with double sided tape so that the holder does not move around while I drive.

So far I am happy with it. There are still some room for improvements that I will update in the next build.

The biggest down side is the battery life. I need to connect a power cable if I want to use the tablet during a longer drive. I generally dislike having power cables all around the interior.

Hi, in terms of power, you could pick up a feed from the cigarette socket and run it up to the cubby, then just have a USB plugged in to it, if you used a 90' lead the wiring would be virtually invisible.

Good Advice, I think the 90 degrees angled connectors will work well.
Only down side is that being an older tablet, it has the Micro USB interface instead of the USB-C which is getting harder to find, but I am sure I'll be able to find one on Amazon.
