HPFP & Timing belt.. what else? |
|
Hi all,
Recently experienced the fault 'bong' and limp mode, twice in about 6 weeks - which reset with an engine restart. However not long after.. diesel smell and smoke from the engine. LR diagnosed as High Pressure Fuel Pump. Obscene quote to repair, tried to claim that the HPFP should have been replaced in the recall back in 2010, but no joy with LR helping me out with the cost, so going to a local garage and paying a third of what LR quoted.
Getting the timing belt done at the same time for no additional labour charge.
Is there anything else that people can recommend getting checked or replaced at the same time? Or any preventative maintenance which might save me labour cost or more expensive repairs in the longer term?
2008 TDV6 ~155,000 kms and I've had:
- Transmission serviced
- New suspension air compressor
- New engine and turbo after main bearing failure at ~120,000kms (yes you read that correctly, courtesy of LR)
- 3 new fuel injectors
- New front diff
Getting to the stage where I am really beginning to consider a change in vehicle but with a new engine its hard to let it go.
