I almost crash tested the Land Rover yesterday-

Im approaching a green light where I plan on hanging a left. As Ive been watching the light for a good 500 feet I know its getting ready to change so I pick it up a bit. As Im getting closer to the light and not slowing down there is a bus coming the opposite way. The bus’s blinkers aren’t blinking so I assume he’s going straight and since he has the right of way I slam on the brakes.

WHOOSH!!

What the Censored !

A pick-up truck going about 40mph blows through his red light just feet from my front end and the bus’s.

I had just come to a stop but the bus was still moving and he then slammed on the brakes.

We were both stopped in the middle of the intersection and Im sure the look on my face was the same as the bus driver’s.

Had I tried to ‘make it’ in front of the bus I definitely would have had a 40mph side/rear impact. My heartbeat jumped about 50bpms!

On another note, Im sitting at a stoplight today when a shiny black Rangie HSE pulls up next to me… I glance over and its my town’s last mayor behind the wheel and he gives me a nod!

A Hummer is just a Hummer. A Land Rover goes all the way.

Well from my experience, which was estimated as a 36mph impact, you'd probably be quite fine (altho the LR3 might not). There are benefits to being nearly 3 tons and having 2 chassis.
