Am I missing something here?

I removed the plastic trim that sits at the bottom of the windscreen yesterday, and was surprised to see the ventilation air intake so open and exposed. When I trickled a small amount of water down the glass it drips off the bottom, into the vent system intake on the right hand side (see the red arrow)! I know there's a rubber seal on the screen trim, but (due to distortion) it doesn't work too well after a few years, so water passes under it in places. Am I missing some kind of plastic guard, or is it supposed to be like that? There's a kind of scoop on the trim to stop water passing through the holes and into the intake, but it doesn't seem to do anything to stop the water that passes under the seal.

Anyone Confused

I'm thinking this may be the reason some people are getting wet carpets after heavy rain, especially if the screen trim isn't a great fit (like mine)

I don't have any answers for you RM, but it looks to me like that scoop would have worked better if it was welded on the other way around with the intake facing down...
