Am I a proper D3 owner now?

Well I have had the car for a week and 2 days and I feel like I have joined the club:

Today:

HDC Fail
Suspension Fault – Stop Safely
Limited gears available

So far:

Engine Coolant sensor
Washer fuse blown
New key fob on order
Heating system poor
Mirror memory has Alzheimers
Sunroof blind broken

Land Rover Assist can only get a proper tech guy in the morning.

Do I get a prize or something?

I hope this is not the shape of things to come.

Can the LR Assist man apply software patches, or can he only diagnose?

Well the man from LR came and the car is now at a dealers.

The hire company through LR Assist has not yet come up with the goods. Apparently they are supposed to get a car within 2 hours. Already they are talking about 'this evening' and have just phoned and offered a van as they have no cars!!!

So since my call last evening I have no car to drive at all.

Hey ho.

It's no wonder why the British car industry is now almost non-existent is it? Everything we do is one big f***-up from start to finish. Either way, go for the van, it's got to be better than the 'token' loan-car Freelander!

Perhaps I should ask on tips and tricks on how to stop the family from sliding around in the back, glue perhaps?

I still feel daft that my car was perfect on the way to the dealers, no faults displayed at all. I hope it dosn't sulk when it gets back home.

Must think positive, must think positive...

It's all too easy to get paranoid when you read car forums. Not many start a thread to say their car is still perfect. Kiss of death if you did, mind.

Anyway LR Assist are on the case regarding the missing hire car (not van).

I'd go for the Van too.

Just a tip... I was told by my LR Assist tech guy to ask for an auto only. Apparently the autos tend to be better cars than the manuals.

To-date, from LR Assists I've had
Three Ford Focus (plural Foci??? Laughing ) - All manuals
Two Freelanders - One Manual and an Auto
And a Volvo Estate - Auto

The dealer wont loan a car if its an LR Assist callout.. unless mine [dealer] is just an acception.

Good Luck!

I know it’s all too easy to get angry over nothing, but I am starting to feel rather let down with the service provided under Land Rover Assist.

As a recap, my car broke down yesterday evening. I called for assistance at just after 6pm, unfortunately they had no technicians available, so the earliest they could come would be 8.30am today! Some 22 hours later I am still stranded. The technician made no attempt to fix or diagnose my car, he just asked me to drive to the nearest dealer and then he gave me a lift back.

Despite phoning Land Rover Assist every couple of hours I have not been given a hire car or even a promise of one. They have a contract with Enterprise (?), who they pass me on to, but they have no cars or anything anywhere (let alone an auto), so they cannot help – and so we go around the same loop again.

I have now had to take the entire day off as ‘holiday’ for a break down that happened yesterday. A call to the dealer has revealed that they have not had time to look at my car yet either.

I was all laid-back this morning, but now I feel angry. Am I being unreasonable?

I know it'll probably be a Freelander, but have you approached your dealer? When I had similar circular conversation with LR Assist over my car then kicked off with the dealer, one of the Sales Reps offered me his. Given you've had the car for such a short period of time, I would think they would want to keep you happy?

I know it's no solution, but might get you mobile. Following this I'd then annoy the hell out of LRCS and get some form of compensation. Might only be a free service?

Small update. 'Found a car Mr *******, it's only a small city type car and only a manual, will you take it'.

I sound desperate and agree to anything...

'OK then, but the earliest we can get it to you is after 8.00 am tomorrow.'

Fine if your not required to go to work at 3.30 am tomorrow to go fly an aeroplane.

When does a break-down become a hostage situation?

Very unhappy.

Well one bit of good news. The dealer has taken it on himself to contact LRA and give his opinion! So customer services have been on the phone to me. They kind of blew it when they asked what I would like them 'to do about it'.

'A vehicle, any vehicle so I can pick-up kids, go to work, move my equipment!!!' I give them a narrative of events since yesterday.

'Ok, I'll see if I can get you a hire car...'

Arrrgg.

They call back, 5 mins later:

'I see from you file that you have already asked for a hire car, did it not come?'

Thud.
