ICarsoft LR2 Diagnostic Tool.. any good?
I'm new to discovery ownership but know my way around the VAG group VCDS tool.
I could do with something quickly as my check engine light is on more than not, it seems to run ok at the moment and no limp mode.
Ideally from initial research I think id like a GAP IID but its £400+ and I just can't quite afford it at this time.
I have seen this tool which is cheaper by a fair bit.. £136

Is it any good?
Thanks

Yes its a good starter tool if the IID is beyond you. It will clear all codes and provide live data for all CM's. I can't reset service interval or adaptations. Neither can it actuate a component, but that said its not a bad bit of kit for the price and will get you out of the dudu if needs be!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I got an icarsoft 930 for my jag. It works better in the landrover though!
Paid less than 100 on eBay.

I think you will find the one in your link is the posher version of the I930 and the 930 is 96 quid off of ebay.
The very best thing my 930 did when I first got it was to clear the fbh codes and get the heater running again, that alone was worth the 100 quid purchase price, I also sold it 18 mths later for a fiver less than I paid for it
I would get the cheaper 930 and when/if you have some funds spare and you feel the need get the iid and sell the 930.

I have a 930 as well, it’s ideal for the basics. I’ve no intention of doing software upgrades etc and I’m pretty sure anyone with an IID it sits in the glovebox doing nothing most of the time and the biggest usage of it will be for stuff the 930 can do lol2016 RR Sport Autobiography

This is interesting, id like a diags tool but also feel the usual ones are a bit expensive for my DIY needs. This looks spot on so might need to extend my Christmas overdraft.Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

Whats the difference between the two iCarSoft ones, the £90 ish and £130 ish units.
Do both of them give code and description or just code etc ?

Gareth, i would be interested how you get on with it. Im on the verge of iid as ive had one before, but i only really need to do fault codes now, not really interested in updates etc.

Will let you know. Ideally I would like the IID too but don't have the funds at the moment.

Have had the 930 cheaper version for three or four years. It’s perfect for clearing and reading codes.
Have used it on my varied fleet of LR’s, past and present, good value item.
Have helped a friend clear faults on his D4 after fitting replacement maf sensors.
Also used it on other makes to clear faults for me and friends.
Absolutely saved me loads of trouble when travelling back from Devon for work and some sensors in the exhaust were playing up. Earned its keep that day alone.
Also now have an IID tool, but not always brave enough to dabble with this!
Pretty sure you will get good use from the 930!Discovery commercial tdv6 auto 2013

Got the £135 LRR V.20 with the bigger screen
Seems a decent bit of kit. I have just done fault diagnosis and delete with it but will be doing the service reset soon.
Its easy to use and brings up live data to which is good. the screen is a nice size and navigating the menus is quite intuitive.
Happy with it so far 08 D3 TDV6 SE

I reckon they will get more and more popular, especially at that price, plus as the D3/4s age and get cheaper there will be a lot of enthusiasts coming into this mdoel range.
