Ignition Wiring Diagram for Push Button Start Mod
Hi there,
Just for fun me and a friend our going to try and wire a push start button to our project D3. The button has been sited next to the steering wheel and the wires run. We are able to get the Disco to start and stop using the button but only when the key is in the ignition.
1) put key in ignition
2) turn to position two (lights up dash)
3) push button
4) engine starts fine
Now, I'm guessing that this is because of the imobiliser chip in the key. I'm sure no one will tell me how to do it publically but if anyone knows a way to bypass the imobiliser please message me. We'd like to see if this could be done.
Again - This is just for fun and we had the kit already for another project so please no hating

If your plan is to not use the key at all in the ignition, how will you overcome the steering lock from engaging?Mods:

Hi Narpy,
Again as this is just for fun...
We will likely remove the steering lock for the day then replace once we've got bored with it.

on other cars and easy way it to remove the chip from the key and glue it to the sensor
On a D3 you are only likely to end up the key and/or remote lock. (the key is normally charged when in ignition as well)
D3 have enough problems without creating them.

yeah we've taken the spare to bits and find that the car will start with the key blade in the barrel turned to two and then pushing the button whilst waving the chip near the key blade. The disco will not start with the key out of the ignition but the chip taped to the barrel. Does the key blade, when turned, power the chip reader in the green ring around the barrel?
Thanks

The push button will turn everything on barring the engine. Once pressed the immobiliser red light goes to solid red then the ignition turns off. Push the button again and it all comes back on.

Not sure I follow that.
The imbilister prevents cranking from memory
Dash lights should still be on
