Dad was a heavy smoker non filter stuff John Player type 40 + a day by Censored was he an angry Dad when he gave up, I just stayed out of the way for a long time!

Obvious support shown on here so must have hit a nerve. Don't smoke myself but I thought professor pool analysis of need to smoke via associated drink looks good advice but I shall not start smoking to stop drinking Whistle

Had a mother in law, a slightly built woman, who smoked 40 a day of the Players Navy Cut cigs. Sounded a bit like Bonnie Tyler, but otherwise .......

Stoppec after 32 years of 20 plus a day , I used this book which a valued friend bought me , I would urge anyone giving up to use it as there is no will power required which is the hardest way to quit and I admire anyone who gives up something they crave as its torture , this method stopped me craving first which is the genius .

There are many variations but it has to be this one

I didnt set out to reward myself but I soon realused that what I saved was

£16 a day on cigarettes £5840 (more at weekends but thi is averaged ou)
Can of pop everytime I bought cigarettes £200
A packet of chewing gum twice a week £53
Other tat I didnt need but got because I was there buying cigs £100
Diesil going to shop for fags at 2 mile return on a specific for ciggs basis 3 times a week £50

Sooo when my bank account started swelling I bought a Disco cash Smile

I've not read all the pages of this thread, but let me assure you that you are on the right path of "Escaping the Nicotine Trap" its a drug addiction that you are clearly on the better side of "Escaping" from mate,

I smoked for 16 years, and trust me i smoked hard, I Escaped when i was living back in Turkey where they was 20p per packet of 20, So affording them was not a problem for me, but what was very expensive was my health, I could feel it slipping into a place that was not good, i was waking up feeling tired and my breathing was shallow, i would spit out flem as I sat on the toilet having my 1st fag of the day whilst taking a dump,

So i decided i wanted to quit and i tried 3 times,

the 1st 2 times i failed, and failed big time, i had 3 punch ups in the local Turkish pub the 1st time, then i got bared for 3 months and had to pay for the damage i made to the place, £300 worth,

the 2nd Time, I got so Censored that i set fire to my jacket pocket as i tried to have a smoke and hide the fact that i was smoking from the rest of my family, I would put the burning fag into my pocket and pull it out when nobody was looking, the thing is i lit up and put it into my pocket after a few drags and left if there as i fell asleep on the train, the first thing i knew about it was when the ticket inspector was hosing me down with a fire hose, my jacket had melted away and i was very luck to have not burned my skin,

the 3rd time i was given a book as mentioned by another member, the book was called, "Easy Wasys To Give Up Smoking" by Allen Carr, It really opened my eyes to why i started smoking when i was 14 and wanted to be cool and how i slowly became hooked, going from 2 fags a day to 60 Shocked

you can buy this very same book online for only a few £'s and its worth its weight in gold,

I wish you all the very best with the rest of your life as a non smoker,

Paul

well done stew

i was a heavy smoker , nearly 50 a day , tried everything but couldn't do it

then bought myself a vape , then dropped the nicotine bit by bit, that was nearly 2 x years ago and haven't had a smoke since

my incentive was getting a D3 , so used all the money i saved from not smoking towards it

feel considerably better and suprising how much money u save by not smoking

keep it up buddy

really started to notice my breathing is so much better when i take the dogs out for a walk

I go out every Wednesday night with the boys, (brother and best mate) and have done since I was 15. I am now 57 and gave up smoking roll ups just over 5 years ago. I would laugh with my friends at the pub and found myself coughing so hard I had to hang onto the smokers hut to stop me from collapsing on the floor. The oxygen levels in my body were so low I was going to pass out!
I gave up there and then but it took about 3 to 6 months to get over the withdrawals. I watch my mate who is still addicted and he is without any shadow of a doubt, killing himself.
Get off them and stay off them. After you quit you'll realise how much smokers stink too.

is surprising how far u can smell someone who is smoking

after a while i could smell the smoke on my clothes and ended up washing all the clothes in my wardrobe

is so nice as well getting into the car that doesn't smell of smoke
