Impressive storm

We watched, from our back garden, the lightning flashing in a huge thunderstorm this evening.

What is surprising, however, is that the storm is over the Welsh borders south of Knighton. We're in central England on the right hand edge of the image

I have some video of the lightning in the cloud but it won't upload to the gallery for some reason (not file size, perhaps mp4 not allowed?)

Amazing that we can see a storm 60 miles away - shows how tall thunderclouds can be.

Made a short gif from the video. Not great quality but shows what we were seeing.

Just got off a flight from Faro to Manchester. Saw some very spectacular lightning storms down below as we flew over northern Spain.

It certainly was. I can’t recall one that produced such heavy rain and constant thunder.

Were you under it? From our very distant vantage point it just looked like it was sat in one place for an hour. Must have been quite a thing to be under.

Not under the lightning but the rumbling of the thunder went oh for a couple of hours. You couldn’t tell which lightning strike went with which thunder
