Interesting conversation with Land Rover Main Dealer part 1
I was looking at a possible upgrade over the weekend and phoned Matford Exeter and said that I was looking to get newer car and I asked the salesman that if the crankshaft failed and was not covered by the Approved Used Warranty what would happen? I then of course got the usual cock and bull that the Approved Used Warranty covered everything and even after quoting the TSB number he got quite stroppy.
I then said what would the position be if I went ahead and purchased the car but did not take up the Warranty to which he replied that he would not sell me the car !!!! Now things are becoming a little terse as I keep asking what would Matford do if the crank snapped. To this he just repeated that it's covered by the Warranty..... as we know its NOT. Things have now got a bit and he is saying that he's is not the person to ask about this. I then asked did he actually work for Land Rover Exeter or had I dialled a wrong number...... to which he hung up Land Rover 90 - deceased
Discovery 3 - deceased
Discovery 4 2013
Mini Cooper S 1964 Mk1 - International Rally winner red & white
Mini Cooper s 1964 Mk1 - Road Rally champion green & white
Mini Cooper S 1971 Mk3 - original and unrestored
Porsche 911 997
Porsche Boxster 3.4S
VW Polo 1.2
Citroen Xsara Picasso - shed/run around
Salesman I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Nothing like the 'Salesman' I met the other day.
I was admiring the new Discovery HSE when he approached me and asked he could help.
I didn't like the price of the HSE so asked what one without some of the bells and whistles would cost.
His reply astounded me, he said that I had better go home and play with my PC, decide what I want and come back then he would see if he could help !!
He actually missed out on a sale as another of the salesmen saw my reaction and asked if he could help.
He took me to his desk and configured what I was more interested in and came up with the new Discovery SE, as good as the HSE but without the bits I didn't want, like sun roof, arm rests, side steps, electric seats etc, so I ordered one.
