Intermittent Poor Braking

Hey All

Have noticed a disturbing issue with the brakes, occasionally when I stamp on them, I get serious 'brake fade' which is a bit worrying, appreciate any thoughts or comments.

Check your vacuum brake hose, loads of threads and pictures on this site. I had the same on a couple of occasions, and its quite hairy, I checked my hose and though there was evidence of oil, there was not much. Had it checked out by the stealers and they said it was fine. Touch wood it hasnt happened since. Another sign if it is the fault mentioned above is a very hard pedal due to lack of vacuum assist. Good luck

For a quick diagnosis.

un-clip this pipe, if there is oil present then thats the recall issue. Its an oil seal in the VacPump that fails internally, allowing oil to contaminate the vaccum system.

Normally its NEW:

VacPump
Servo
Brake Fluid

I've had the recall and the work done, but recently I've begun to suffer intermittent fade again. Am going to pop the wheels off at the weekend and check the pads and check the new pipework for oil. Brake fluid level is ok Confused
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
