IPhone

Hello
Just bought a LR Disco 3 SE. It has come with bluetooth and has, under the central storage hatch, a nokia handset cradle. My problem is that I have an Iphone and no one seems to have a cradle that will fit an iphone. Please help!

Get one of many 3rd party iPhone car holders with or without power and use bluetooth as DG says.

Really? How disappointing. Although Bluetooth works well it doesn't display information like names. Does an iPhone cradle not exist?

No cradle exists for most modern handsets.

LR gave up (quite rightly) trying to make cradles for the many handsets on the market... even making a cradle for Nokia for example would mean they would have to produce many hundreds of designs.

There is no industry standard connector or shape to design for. Even power connectors vary within a single manufacturer.

Take a look in your local phone shop and count how many different shapes and sizes there are this week... go back a few weeks later and there will be even more new models to support.

Caller ID, last called, received calls are all displayed on my head unit using my Nokia N85... but with the N82 and N95 not.

Unless Apple (in particular) or others decide to support all the BlueTooth profile standards, it will never happen.

Be happy it works as a phone with the PTI, there are some that don't.

I had a software update to my BT module a while ago and I have been able to get calling name or number on my display. Can also see last called (10) and my address book. All connected to my iPhone. Thumbs Up
Mine an 07, so depends on how old yours is as to whether you can get the update.

I also use the Audio. Connectivity Module to play my iPhone music and keep it charged up. Mounted on a www.dashmount.co.uk mount and a brodit adjustable iPhone holder. I love it.

My work round is to divert the iphone to a Nokia phone in a cradle in the car, it isn't perfect and costs a little more to run than 1 phone but works for me.
