Iphone 4 STOPPED charging in D4 |
|
Happy new year and a new D4 problem.
The iphone 4 has suddenly stopped charging whilst connected the dedicated ipod socket in the centre console (using the curly lead)
It used to charge up and play music no problem but will now only play music and an error message on the phone pops up with something like
"charging not supported with this accessory"
The phone is still on IOS 6
I have read through the following thread but this appears to deal with issues of NEVER being able to charge the phone
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic91822.h...e+charging
Can't understand why it would stop but presumably the fault is either with....
The Phone
The curly lead
The Car
Any ideas???? 2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us
2006 D3 - no longer with us and sadly missed
2010 D4 alas no more, but a lovely colour (Nara)
2016 D4 about to depart
2022 DS nearly...........

I would check the fuse as I presume it has one.

That's odd in that this happened to me . Whilst I had " upgraded " to IoS7 it happened some time later , but I read on t'internet that the upgrade does stop some non Apple chargers from working. Very odd it was not immediate after the upgrade.
I was using a Fleabay charging lead with a usb which plugged in to a cig socket end . I removed that and plugged straight in to the the usb socket and that worked OK.
Now I have bought a quality cig socket end ( as I need it for boating ) . It says it is for iPhones and no problem.
So I would get a new lead.

Is it a genuine Apple Lead you are using, I was using a non genuine lead to charge my IPad, the same lead will not charge the iPhone 5S, changed to the genuine lead and it charges fine.

Sorry for the late response
Thanks for the offer Jan
Went into hartwell this evening and after about 20 mins of faffing around - the parts dept refused to let us try a new lead as it would mean opening the packaging
one of the sales guys overheard the problem and after a quick rummage in his desk draw finds a curly lead.
Quick test later revealed it was, in fact, my original lead that was faulty.
Back into the showroom where the tech dude says " you'll be wanting a new lead then sir, that'll be £53 plus Vat."
Sales guy then chirps in " what a rip off!!!! Here you go sir, please take my lead with our compliments"
Faith restored in humanity, landrover and hartwells!!!!
Massive thanks to John in sales at the Liverpool branch of Hartwell Landrover....you sir, are a gentleman 2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us

I have the same issue but my lead is brand new. I also have the Iphone 5 so I have to use an adaptor thingy as it has a smaller charging socket.
All the audio and screen interface works perfectly, it jsut doesnt charge.

I'm sure you know this but you can just use the Apple lead that came with your phone. Not need for a special lead if you have the USB socket in the lid of the cubby box?
