irritating noise

no, not from the back seat! has anybody else noticed a sort of creak/tapping noise that appears to be coming from the dash behind the radio every now and then? It occurs whan you go over a small bump or if the vehicle is changing direction at low speeds, so would suggest either a flap in the aircon system or a body stress type thingy? not the end of the world I know but now I've noticed it I spend my journeys listening for it !! Razz
 and theeeeennn......???

OK... this drove me nuts for ages until I realised...

That I was leaning on the centre cubby box and this caused it to creak... the noise though sounded like it was from behind the radio / dash.

Also if you lean your left leg against the dash this can cause a creaking.

Try and see if this is it next time your out. By leaning more on the cubby you should be able to 'creak it' then listen for the noise.

If what Mr. Sheep suggests isn't the cause, it seems as though there is plenty of scope for squeeky stuff under the dashboard.

Mine is just back from trying to trace an annoying squeek, when cold. They seem to have sorted it out, but haven't yet come clean with exactly what they did. Apparently there is some cabling that appears vulnerable. Will pass on the gen when I get it.

Too right....

Reason I mentioned this is that you have the SE, so - unless you hate the arm rests - actually leaning on the cubby box is a tad uncomfortable over the top of the arm rest.

When you have a quiet moment with nothing better to do, pull of the centre console surround and you will see what I mean...........

England

I also have a slight "chirrup" noise from behind the CD player area, which can be heard:
1. On start-up
2. When its less than 18C and the car goes over bumps.

Grrrrrrrrr.

I hevn't investigated further.

That's what mine had - not quite sure what they did, but it sounds common. Will revert with details - it is cured now.
