Is the Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyre M+S? |
|
Pirelli website says it is M+S. Tyres are not marked as such. Which is it?
Also, how much will the performance of this tyres degrade with lower temperatures and then with snow? The reason I ask is that I have been really impressed with its performance in low temps and then in the snow this last week. Thanks

Mine are marked as M+S but it's a fairly small marking (easily missed)
Can't comment on the performance at anything below -8°C but they were still doing fine then. Snow? We don't get it down here Finally took the Coopers off today as I've given up waiting for it The End

Thanks - can you remember where the M+S is shown as I've had a good look and can't find it?

Sorry to waste your time - so does mine (small eh?)!
More of a general M+S question to people but do these tyres therefore suffer less performance reduction at low temps than regular tyres? (Just wondering whether there is any upside in 'proper' snow tyres for the Disco up here in the glens).

Dog,
Have a look too at the thread http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=35572#35572 , where bontempi gives details of the differences.
I think it is true that genuine winter tyres are designed for temperatures below about +7°C (more or less) and have rubber suited for these conditions.

Do not use Scorpion Zero near zero temperature!!! A little ice spot on the road can spin you hard and unexpectedly! I had that experience and i know some similar cases with other RR and LR3.

Surely, ice and rubber do not mix regardless of make. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Goodyear offers some RUBBER tires which are perfect on ice and on dry, even without spikes... No problems on clear ice with them...

In the winter I had Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tyres on my D3. I presume these are the variation with rubber more suited to lower temperatures. I found them fine but I didn't really have all that much use on icy roads (I only got the car in March).
