Is this an example

of a niggling problem? 130 miles from new and I am trying a hill start, still find this awkward with the electric handbrake, and stall the car. Go to quickly restart and the error message TRANSMISSION RANGE CHANGE NOT AVAILABLE appears.

Stop the car minutes later, turn off and restart normally. ie giving it time to do it's system check, and all appears well.

Lets hope that the only crashing that this car will do will be its computer Laughing

Still I love the way this car drives but I am handing it over to the wife tomorrow and the handbrake bit worries me Oh and parking in small places Shocked

croyde, I take it you have an automatic. If so, simply drive off, you don't have to touch the park brake lever, cancels automatically for you.

OK, excellent. The best way to get used to it is to not use the accelerator and let the clutch out as normal. Watch the revs as they drop very slightly when the clutch bites and then depress the park button. As you move away the car will give its own amount of gas. Then you can take over and drive as normal.

If you want to gain confidence on how much torque the car has try this little excercise.

Put the car into low ratio.
Place in first gear.
Keep your foot miles away from the gas pedal.
Let the clutch out until it bites, then press the park brake button off.
Let the clutch right out and roll along slowly.
Keep away from the gas pedal.

Now here comes the clever bit.

Keep your foot away from the gas, but place your right foot on the footbrake. NO GAS, NO CLUTCH RIDING - IMPORTANT.

Now slowly press the brake pedal harder and harder. You will nearly push the seat off its mountings before the car stalls.

Obviously don't go to the extent of stalling it as it is uneccessary.

Go on then, try it Very Happy now

If it helps I have taken well to the handbrake and have had some hairy moments with people being too close behind me on hills, 2.5 tons of car rolling back Milestone - no pressure of course. Dont miss the conventional ones now after only 2 weeks.
