Took it back to bells yesterday and he had it back on the diagnostics. You'll have to excuse my lack of technical knowledge here, but he said he'd discovered the problem was an intercooler hose issue I believe. He's seen the topic on here and said he'll post some pics because it looks like quite a rare occurance. He's ordered a new hose and I should be picking it up tuesday or wednesday

Check the intercooler to inlet manifold hose - the one on the offside, check it for oil stains, it may have a small split in it

Shame id already done the diagnostic work before reading this thread, you may have answerd it for me would have saved me time lol, but then again it needed a good diagnostic looking any way to be sure of a real fault.
I seen this thread when looking for "The large One" on the forum to order a hose because they are on back order at my landrover dealer
Intrestingly tho, the Autologic engine faults shown that rich gave me from the last diag a few das agao didnt mention a pressure drop between the turbo and the inlet manifold, it only mentioned the EGRs.
Where as when i logged on with IDS it gave me an indication as to that the turbo was making the power and it was not getting recived by the inlet side.
Looking on liva data as you would it showed that the turbo actuation was perfect but yet the inlet pressure sensor was only getting about 152kpa , without the turbo having blades missing which it didnt it led to towards a blockage or split hoes.
I could illniminate a split hose due to the fact that there was no noises to indicate such.
It could then only be a hose blocked by de-lamination.

Check the DTC sheets - P0404-00 can indicate intercooler hose and MAP etc. sensors as well as EGR

The full discription was not on this sheet i dont think, may be it was not printed fully in not sure.
It only showed 2 faults and a basic discription of them.
I cant make any more tests now untill i get the new hose on tuesday.

Wow - that's what my arterries must look like after last nights fish and chips! Cheers Pete, you've lived up to your reputation. Looking forward to having the disco back. With the mixture of EGR issues and that hose, it's probably been down on power for the full year that I've owned it.
Thanks for all the replies from everyone else too!

UPDATE:
Collected the car tonight and couldn't be happier I can't believe how well it's driving! Really responsive and just seems to have far more power than it ever did. Because Peter needed to wait for the hose to arrive (so he had the car a couple of days) he kindly updated my sat nav software and enabled it so that I can enter destinations on the move - something which has always annoyed me. The price for all this? £66!!
I don't know how much time Peter had to spend on the car but it was on and off the diagnostics a few times and he only charged me for an hours labour. And on the drive home - I got 34mpg!! Yes, 34! Most I've ever had is 27 on a good run. Not sure how much of that is down to the recent EGR mod, or just correcting the faulty hose, but either way it's in top form now. Cheers Peter!
So, if you live within travelling distance to York I highly recommend Bell Auto's

Why does it seem to be that Sensor C is the most common to develop a fault? Sensor C is the left hand sensor next to the battery box and most awkward to get to

Not wanting to start a fight here or anything, but 10forcash kind of diagnosed your issue without (from what i can see) charging you a penny - perhaps a word of thanks to him might be in order, no?

Yeah, of course, a big thanks - if I'm being bullied into it
Ha, no seriously, a big thanks to 10forcash (Ian I believe?) and everyone else's input for that matter. Pretty handy forum this, especially for those less knowledgable fellows like myself. Between the lot of you, it probably saved me a big wedge of cash at the main dealers.
