I have side steps on my D3 and as I speak it is sat in the works car park between 2 cars at off road height.
Again I agree with previous comments that it is far easier to accept a scratch if you do it yourself than some idiot not taking care of your property.

Access is not really a problem at off road height as my girlfriend is not the tallest person but always parks it in off road height between two cars.
The car does "settle" over time but still remains at a height where most other car doors would hit the steps before hitting the door panel etc.

I always try and park as far away from everyone else as possible but sometime you have to just grin and bear it, raise the suspension, a stick it in the gap!!

I ordered my HSE on Saturday.....I opted for Stornoway grey, privacy glass-factory fitted-side steps, body side mouldings without the bright inserts and a set of premium carpet mats.

Hi Ian, looks like a near-purrrfect spec. Although, IMHO, I would highly recommend you swap your carpet mats for a set of fitted L-R rubber ones (including the 3rd row). Even if you never go off-road, they are unbeatable - tough, fit for purpose, easy to clean etc. especially if you've got kids climbing in & out of the back. They're a dealer-fitted option, so I'm sure they could do it if you wanted it. I think their price is pretty similar, too.

Re: Speccing

Agreed had the rubber LR mats on all my previous LR products, they do look excellent and a far more practical.

dgrr and Gazzer, a higher authority than I has decreed the non rubber mats. I used to have rubber ones in previous Discos and found them excellent, however apparently they are not good with some types of ladies shoes! Hmmph.
