Not saying that this is a good idea, but diesel as far as I'm aware will not light from a spark or a naked flame!

There are plenty of high speed lorry pumps with the pins in, so I doubt it is legislation, rather to stop people spilling fuel.

I use the lorry pumps to fill mine - far quicker and easier.

Winger, they should not be found in Shell filling stations, if so please let me know. We will soon stop that. I realise diesel is not the same as petrol, but it is still flamable all be it on a lower scale.

I couldn't possibly comment..... Wink

Thank you

Take a look at these links:

http://www.esdjournal.com/static/explode/flames.htm
http://www.esdjournal.com/static/aerosmth/gas.htm
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/07/05/...6202.shtml

These are petrol I know, but I have videos in the office of diesel and gas. explosions. The BLEVE (boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion) from gas is awesome, but don't forget filling stations are as near as most people will get to a bit of danger.

You'd need a lot of global warming to get that stuff to flash (300 degs C).

That over, we can now get onto the nice things the car has ummmmmmm oh yes, the neat little clips inside the centre box to hold the Land Rover Assist card, see they did think of everything.

Interesting that in litigation-hungry USA, the clips are still fitted in many cases, although BN's links show graphically what can happen. Interesting, too, that two of the reports involved Ferraris. Is there a conspiracy theorist in the house?

In Ohio most stations have little catches you can slide the filler handle into to keep it pumping while you're away from the car. I noticed on a recent holiday that I didn't see them in some states, so it they must be disallowed.

I love doing that. I set it filling and go off to clean the windscreen, check the oil, whatever.

I like:

It's iPod compatible as standard... enough said.

Stadium seating - everybody gets a fair view (although I wouldn't want to go a long journey in the 3rd row having had past experience of that..)

The big cupholders Wink
