Jacking... What a ball ache...

Have bought the D3 a few weeks ago and had to jack using the supplied, piece of c**p. The winder handle really is a complete load of rubbish that will rip the skin off your hands if you do it without gloves. and getting the wheels to laign when putting back on is a pain in the Censored .

Thankfully i've had chance to practice before requiring it in an emergency. This really wasn't thought about by LR, the old Scoob was a doddle to jack up and get the wheels on and off, but the trolley jack isn't high enough for the D3.

Any way rant over, i'm off to get a decent jack.

not very portable - you need an air jack for that - good on the drive

CG - I've got one of those and I'm not impressed having bent the frame on it - I have a stonking CostCo 3 tonne one now with an enourmous saddle on it which can just be stuffed under a wishbone - even less portable but super strong, quick and save Thumbs Up

Are you sure you didn't have the Quick Lift variant Steve?
As that is a totally different model and is known for the body twisting and definately not as sturdy as the one above.
I've got the same jack as CG and it's as solid as a rock.

Go on then Ken, scare us with how much that blue air jack is...looks so tempting an option for an air sprung car and I'm sure we could re-activate all the deceased "Let's use the suspension air tank to power a ..." threads for it Laughing

Yes the Quick lift one - sorry I couldn't see for definite which one was which - in which case I restrict my comment to the Quick Lift Clarke Trolley Jack Embarassed Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Steve

I think I had that same one, is it the QXL, in which case, yep, mine twisted and was very scary. I swapped it for one of these SEALEY 3003CXQ 3 TON ROCKET LIFT TROLLEY JACK :

not bad for 76 quid

Swapped over wheels from front to back using my BushRanger air jack, lifts the whole side up in one go easily so both wheel off the ground. Fits nicely in the bag in the boot and works on soft ground.

Much easier Thumbs Up

Found the picture (of it in the box) - is this the same as anyone elses?

Has anyone tried the Arcan XL30R 3 Ton 54.3 cm lift trolley jack sold for £70.48 from Costco on their Discovery and if so what is the verdict?

Where's the best place to get the trolley jack under the rear? The OEM jack points aren't a great place.
